My father was diagnosed with Stage IV melanoma in Feb 2012. He was 57 years old. My twin sisters and I were devastated.
He underwent three brain surgeries (to remove tumors), chemotherapy (Yervoy), radiation (on leg and brain), and countless seizures and hospital stays. My father was the epitome of a fighter. He died due to complications of the melanoma; several large blood clots in his thigh, on his lungs, and wrapped around his heart. He went down with a fight.
He will always be a hero to my sisters and I … the ultimate melanoma warrior.
