Alex was diagnosed with melanoma in 4/09. Things seemed to be okay, with all tests coming back clear. In June, he had the spot reincised and the tumor was growing back but his lymph nodes were clear. Two weeks later he complained about his ear but all they could find was blood in his ear. They put him on antibiotics and he proceeded to go on vacation at the end of July. The following week he was in the hospital with a tumor behind his ear and three in his spine. He had three weeks of radiation and two weeks of an oral chemo pill. He started to swell and he was admitted to the hospital again. After a week they told us that it was spreading and a few days later he passed.
